Alicante was the city of Idris and that was where Adriana found herself on a warm Saturday afternoon. She had spent most of the week unpacking her things and making sure her father was settled in. She would be lying if she said that it wasn't a relief that her grandmother was now taking care of the duties with watching over her father. She had been hesitant at first, her grandmother was older and had already raised this man at one point in her life. It seemed unfair to ask her to do it again, but the older woman had just smiled and re-assured her that she had done it once and she would do it again, she birthed him into this world and with Adriana's mother gone it was her duty to care for him until she left it. She supposed it was touching to have a mother care so deeply about her child, but it still didn't take away any of the pain that her father had caused. She would never forget the screaming at night, the long mornings of begging him to eat. The pain that her chest had when others mentioned his name. She wasn't allowed time to grieve for her mother, for she herself had become mother-less and a mother all in one night.
She had went with her Grandfather to the City and listened to him speak briefly of the history and the newly developed issues with a group called the Circle. Her parents had never really spoken much about Idris or brought her here so this was the first time in the large city. It was beautiful and peaceful, which in her world went a long, long way. She couldn't remember a time when the presence of downworlders wasn't even an issue. The city was gorgeous and she had promised him she would check in on him before she headed back to their manor. Her first stop had been the accords hall and she spent a good few hours traveling through the halls and rooms, reading over the plaques and various pictures. She thought back to what her Grandfather said about the Circle. How in the world could a group in their right mind think that showing themselves to humans was a good idea? They were secret for a reason. Humans were not meant to be inside their world.
Adriana's stomach growled and she began to look for the exit. She had never been in this city before, but surely the people had to eat sometime. She didn't want to bother her grandfather. He was the Inquisitor for heaven sake, he shouldn't be bothered with his granddaughter's empty stomach. She slipped out the exit and was making her way to the street when she caught her jacket on the door and immediately tumbled into the street knocking right into someone.....
