The strength of the world is on my shoulders - Strength of the World ~ Avenged Sevenfold
Nicknames: Anything you dare to call him, though it’s usually just Valentine. A selected few are allowed to call him Valen, though if you aren’t – beware the consequences.
Gender: Male
Age: Thirty eight
Species: Nephilim
Occupation: Leader of the Circle, Shadowhunter
Alliance: The Circle
[/ul]
Hair color: White blonde hair commonly described nowadays as “platinum blonde”. Valentine keeps his hair relatively long but it’s usually slicked back away from his face and brushes the nape of his neck.
Skin tone and fairness: Valentine has a good tan from spending his time outdoors. His normal, un-tanned complexion is still a shade darker than the normal skin tone for most people.
Build: This man is not some man that you can pass by without noticing. Standing at a good 6’4” (1.96 m), and weighing 198 lbs. (98 kg) Valentine has a good build packed heavily with muscles gained from strict and diligent training. There’s not an ounce of fat on him and everything about him just seems right. He carries himself with pride, easily gaining the attention in a crowd.
Important marks or distinguishing things:
- Night Vision rune; Left shoulder blade
- Parabatai rune; Right upper arm
- Soundless rune; Right ankle
- Morgenstern ring; Left middle finger[/ul]
Fashion sense: Most of the time, Valentine appears in classic Shadowhunter gear – form-fitting, all black clothing that’s easy to move around in. He always carries a myriad of weapons on him, usually sheathed on his belt or on his thigh or chest holsters.
When he’s not in his Shadowhunter gear, he’ll never appear anything less than sharp in public. His clothing choice always includes the color black in it. Otherwise, he’s lounging around at home in blue jeans and a t-shirt.
Face Claim: Chris Hemsworth
Quirks: It’s easy to tell when Valentine is spacing out – he usually chews his lip. He also has an obsession with tossing knives up into the air and catching them by the blade when he’s bored.

~ Recognition

Strengths:
* His ruthlessness
* Physical strength and endurance
* Boldness and stubbornness
Dreams/Ambitions:

[/ul]
- Downworlders
- Demons and other such unclean beings
Weaknesses:
@ His family holds a soft spot in his heart – softer than he likes to admit.
@ Challenges – whenever a challenge is presented, Valentine does not like to give up and may end up overworking himself.
@ Reputation – because of this reputation, he’s often at a disadvantage because he’s wanted.
@ Insecurities – little as they are, they’re still there. Valentine doesn’t like admitting it to himself, but sometimes he just feels insecure.
Fears:
% Fey; something about them just rubs him the wrong way
% Rejection from Jocelyn
% Ducks and geese; who wouldn’t fear them?
[/ul]
Charismatic; He’s got that feel about him that automatically makes you drawn towards him. He’s got a fluency to his manner that demands respect and manages to plant his ideas in your head and makes you want to follow him.
Ingenious; With a mind that never stops working, it’s not unusual to find Valentine working on some new project or invention. He has an intellect that surpasses the great majority and he isn’t afraid to use it – even in ways that others don’t understand.
Ruthless; Everything is for the greater good. Valentine doesn’t mind using unorthodox techniques. He wouldn’t even bat an eye if he was asked to kill. He’s rough and appears to be heartless. If you’re his enemy, he’d even grace you with a smile before plunging a dagger into your heart and walking away with a laugh.
Driven; Once he’s set his eyes on a goal, nothing keeps him away from it. He’ll do anything to get to where he needs to get to and achieve it all. Driven and stubborn, it’s also hard to get Valentine to change his mind about anything.
Cold; He doesn’t let people in easily. He’ll have his circle of friends but only a very select few will know the “true” Valentine. He likes keeping people at a distance, preferring not to show weakness in front of them. He doesn’t like admitting his weaknesses.
Diligent; Rules and routines are everything. He trains and he prompts his family to train to be the best and the strongest Shadowhunters. He will never miss a training session and if he does something, he’s very rarely late and never fails to meet – or even exceed – expectations.
Devoted; He is devoted to his family. As unlikely as it is, he cares almost too deeply for them and would go to any lengths to ensure their safety. He rules with an iron fist, but there is a devoted, loving side to him under it all.

By the time he was of age to attend the Shadowhunter Academy, Valentine was no stranger to weapons, runes and demon hunting. Although still a novice, it was clear that he had the talent. He had good looks, he had charm, he had a way with people that just made them flock to him. But instead of reveling in the attention given to him by the majority, he sought his companionship from the outcasts and misfits, acting as a mentor and friend to them, helping to further their skills and become better, more capable Shadowhunters. Although he was open to others and willing to help them, not many could say that they knew a lot about Valentine. No one knew what he did in his free time, or what he liked and didn’t like. In this way, he was seen as a mysterious figure, an almost intangible idol to most.
In reality, he just really wasn’t willing to trust everyone. Valentine wasn’t blind and the curiosity that accompanied his demeanor had pushed some people to limits that they weren’t willing to go to. Downworlders, he soon learned, was off limits once it got to the lines of shadowhunters and demons. Where did they belong? Why were they there? Why weren’t they part of the Clave? No one would answer these questions and he started to notice strange looks aimed at him. So he stopped voicing these opinions, keeping to only a select few individuals which he trusted with these views. This closing up only intensified after the sudden death of both of his parents, leaving him as the sole heir to the Morgenstern fortune and manor. He closed himself up for a while, even to his closest friends, but once he emerged, he was like a new man – more driven and more passionate.
Before long, the Shadowhunter world suddenly saw the rise of a new organization called the Circle. Led by none other than Valentine himself, their objective was simply to reform the Clave, who restricted their freedom. Why not let themselves be known to mundanes? Why protect them from things they didn’t even know about? Why not receive some gratitude from them? And the downworlders – what was wrong with letting them into the Clave? He’d decided that it was time for things to change and he was willing to be the person to start all the change.
During the days before the full appearance of the Circle, Valentine wasn’t busy. Like any normal boy, he too fell in love and proposed to Jocelyn Fairchild, one of the few he dared to open his heart to. They married at a young age and moved into the Morgenstern manor, where Valentine had been previously experimenting. He kept all this a secret from Jocelyn, fearing her judgment but also strongly devoted to his research. It was for the better good of Shadowhunters and downworlders – especially if they were going to join forces to defeat demons.
Experimenting also brought him results. He’d realized the potency of demon blood to strengthen his power and the influence of angel blood upon his strength. Enchanted with his results, he summoned Lilith, asking for her blood to give his first unborn child, Jonathan Christopher, named after his deceased father. The day he was born was easily one of the happiest moments in Valentine’s life and as soon as he could, he began training his son in the art of being a Shadowhunter, all the while paying attention to Jocelyn, whom he noticed hadn’t been herself.

She raised an eyebrow at the Libra’s comment but chose not to respond at that moment; she was going to get him back for that on the detention day. No one got away with something like that. As for Tristan though, the kid was actually decent. “I’ll let him know you were looking out for him,” she replied, “the grumpy butt still feels left out because he hasn’t got a division named after him,” not technically, anyways. She could be considered a Sagittarius in a way – hey, why not.
“No can do, see, the child needs to be put in his place every once in a while. You though, dare to see how I’ll administer detention to rude people like him? Might ease your mind.” Echo inquired impishly. “Now go, shoo. If you ever change your mind about Torchics though, gimme a shout. Name’s Echo.”[/ul]
