Adriana was doing something that went against her better judgement. She had borrowed her grandfather's horse and decided to go outside of the city into the countryside. Her grandfather was busy with work and her grandmother was busy with her father so neither noticed when she slipped out. Horses were not the type of animals that she was familiar with. There were none in the city where she was from of course, and she had really only seen one once when her father showed her the bare basics of how to saddle them. She had never even rode one before today. The giant white steed was beautiful, she had to give him that. His coat was splotched with dark spots and his mane was kept in pristine order. The name " Aequitas " was on his stable so she assumed that was his name, which was fitting of course. She had studied latin and knew enough to know that it meant justice. She had to think back to that day long ago at the stable with her father to remember how to saddled him up. The process of getting him ready took a bit longer than she would have liked to admit and then she had just stood there for a good fifteen minutes after that just trying to get the courage up to ride him. The horse was patient with her, and if she hadn't been so scared she might have appreciated it more. She took it slow, barely letting him move past a slow walk. She had no destination in mind.
She had passed a few houses, some that looked empty and some that looked like there were people inhabiting them. She tried to stay as hidden and close to the woods as she could. Her grandfather had warned her of course about the Circle members having their homes and hideouts here, but she didn't think much of it. She still had hope that despite what she heard, they were still good people. Nephilim were descended from the same bloodline, how could an argument split this heavely race apart so badly? How could a group sworn to protect spill each other's blood? She hoped the Clave was dramatizing things, but just in case she tried to keep out of sight and had a stele and dagger in her boot at the ready.
The woods that surrounded the city were beautiful in themselves. The trees were a rich shade of green, and there were beautiful notes coming from the birds. It was so peaceful and relaxing it was hard to believe anything could be wrong in the world. It could of course, she knew that first hand, but for a moment here it was easy to see how someone could escape it all. She rode along quietly and slow as the woods began to get thinner and then open up to a lake. She had heard her grandfather mention one, but she had never thought she would get to see it. It was absolutely gorgeous. Adriana stopped the horse at the lake's edge and sat there. She had a small moment of fear when she began to wonder about how on earth she was going to get down. She peeked over the horse's side and looked at the ground. It seemed a lot farther to her when she was sitting up on the horse than it did when she was climbing up to him.
Adriana took a deep breath and swung her leg off one side. Her other foot that was still in the stirrups promptly got caught causing her to do a silly dance while trying to get free, though she was proud of herself for not falling down. She wasn't naturally clumsy, but she felt that since the moment she stepped foot into Idris it had caused her to be a klutz. She hopped on one foot for a moment until her other came free and she finally stood. She laughed a little and spoke to Aequitas. " Alright now...let's keep that between you and I"
